Draco Constellation by ShadeofShinon Draco Constellation by ShadeofShinon
Fanart for one of my all time favourite movies and one of the most underrated movies I know, Dragonheart. Every dragon fan should see it, it is a great movie in every way and Draco is, hands down, the best movie dragon there is. Everyone else can go home.
I just rewatched this movie and remembered why I loved it so much. Also, I found out, to my great disappointment, that this movie has so little fanart out there. So I decided to fix it.

People who have seen the movie probably know what I was trying to do here. I think Draco turned out to be a bit too much fleshed out in this picture. I think the color balance is good as it is, but I guess I could've made the constellation part a bit more flat. Ah well, I hope the idea gets through anyway.

I hope you like it!
And watch the movie if you haven't!

Media Watercolours and white ink on Cartiera Magnani Portofino watercolour paper
Time taken 6-7 hours

Draco belongs to whoever is responsible of the movie Dragonheart

Pretty cool idea. And I adore the beautiful host of sparkling stars and galaxies in your night sky. White ink sure is a beautiful medium. Lovely painting.

Thank you! White ink is a very useful medium, but I think it needs to be used in moderation and only when needed. I think if you can make the same effect with paper white you should do it that way rather than applying white ink afterwards, just not to make the picture look too stuffed. I hope you know what I mean. But white ink is definitely apt to making night skies and stars.

I agree. And no worries, I have no intention watching the movie. It sounds terrible and I don't want to ruin one of my favourite movies ever with a horrible sequel.

I never saw the second one. I own the first one and I watch it every now and then. It's a very beautiful and well made. Draco has such amazing personality, his animation is amazing. All the gestures and expression and his whole being is simply brilliant.
Anyway, thank you!
